In the early months of the pandemic, Karie Richards came across an article in The New York Times called “The 36 Questions That Lead To Love”, referencing the work of psychologist Arthur Aron who studied intimacy between strangers, using a specific set of questions. Eager to connect in a playful way with the people she was missing while in lockdown, Karie began a series of remote interviews based on the 36 questions. Crafted verbatim from their answers, THE BEAUTY WE CARRY* (world premiere) considers the fragility, strangeness, and unpredictability of our lives; a group portrait shimmering with joy and grief, secret hopes and graceful acts of love. A soulful examination of the inevitable loss yet profound beauty that shapes a life.

Praise for previous solo shows: “★★★★ A masterclass in performance and storytelling.” CBC (for THE GHOST PROJECT). “★★★★★ Nothing short of stupendous.” Winnipeg Free Press (for BIRDY).
