Applications are now open for the 2020 Ottawa Fringe Seasonal Positions

 

Box Office Manager

The Ottawa Fringe is seeking an enthusiastic Box Office Manager who will support the Box Office Team and oversee the operations of box offices at the 2020 Ottawa Fringe Festival. The successful candidate for this position will have operations experience, interpersonal skills and be excited by the opportunity to work in the administrative hub of the festival.  

Duration: April 6 – July 31, 2020 (1 position vacant)
Hours: average of 32/hrs week
Rate: $19/hr

Duties and responsibilities include:  

  • Creating box office operational processes including: daily cash handling procedures, processing tickets, passes and packages
  • Coordinating venue box office supply needs  
  • Recruiting, scheduling, training and managing venue and festival box office attendants
  • Coordinating box office and front of house volunteer requirements for the Ottawa Fringe Festival including: building schedules, coordinating orientations and information dissemination (in partnership with festival Volunteer Coordinators)
  • Building all festival shows in festival ticketing system database Vendini
  • Additional administrative and on the ground needs may be required during the festival dates June 18-28

The ideal candidate will have:  

  • 3 to 5 years experience managing or coordinating a team preferably in the performing arts sector
  • Management skills and experience in the realms of scheduling and logistics coordination
  • Demonstrates initiative, troubleshooting skills and self-motivation
  • Intermediate communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Vendini, Slack, Excel, Dropbox, and Google Drive is a major asset
  • A passion for theatre and a familiarity of Fringe Festivals is an asset

Volunteer Coordinator 

The Ottawa Fringe is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator who will support the Volunteer Supervisors that make the Ottawa Fringe Festival’s large team of volunteers. The successful candidate for this position will have administrative experience, interpersonal skills and be excited by the opportunity to work in the administrative hub of the festival.

Duration: April 13 – July 10, 2020 (2 positions vacant)
Hours: approximately 120 hours, evening and weekend availability required
Rate: $17/hr

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring adequate recruitment of the Ottawa Fringe Festival’s volunteer base
  • Training volunteers in orientation sessions
  • Successfully securing sponsorships for volunteer headquarters hospitality
  • Act as team captain to Volunteer Supervisors
  • Build and implement volunteer schedule
  • Coordinate a volunteer appreciation event following the end of the festival

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience managing or coordinating volunteers
  • Organizational skills in the realms of scheduling and human resources coordination
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, troubleshooting skills and self-motivation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Excel, Dropbox, Slack, Google Drive, and volunteer scheduling software is a major asset
  • A passion for theatre and a familiarity of Fringe Festivals is an asset
