Come along with Fingers and Shrimp, the last rats in Alberta, and learn how they survive in a world that hates them. Fingers, the street rat, is completely alone. Or so he thinks, until he discovers Shrimp, an escaped lab rat. Inspired by Alberta’s 1950s anti-rat propaganda, this physical comedy duo will have you clutching your tail!

  1. Dayna Lea Hoffmann and Katie Yoner are masters in use of the space, timing, subtle pauses, and emotive facial and corporal expression. The show has been honed to perfection and the artists are in full control of the scene, deftly incorporating all external noises and interruptions to humorous effect. This is clowning at its finest! You will laugh and you will care about these rats. Rat Academy is a show that you will remember for years to come and my pick for Best of Fest.

  2. Compelling clowns, the perfect balance of audience engagement and tight well pace script. The dancer like physicality is very impressive and you care for these strange wonderful rats. See it before its too late!!

  3. Fingers… Shrimp… you guys win. Win what? I don’t know, but you win. I, a fellow Fringe artist, forsake my work and surrender to the rats. This was easily the best physical comedy show I have ever seen, and I should know– I took clown in college. (La-di-da)
Rat Academy is so beautifully crafted. Perfect comedic timing, brilliant improv, well-crafted characters, (insert more praise here). I was truly inspired, and I hope to be able to create pieces like this myself in the future. Thank you, rats, for bringing this to Ottawa.

  4. Loved this show! Hilarious and sweet, great costumes and makeup, good set design, and incredible performances from both actors. The little improvised bits were also super funny. Please, please see the show if you can!
