In this multi-award-winning, true odyssey, Dockery negotiates the giddiness, terror, & absurdities in travel & love, as he searches for an Epiphany. Any Epiphany at all. A wildly hilarious existential storytelling adventure to Timbuktu. Best-of-Fest: Adelaide, Vancouver, London, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Ottawa, & Orlando.
“5 STARS” -CBC.
“A one-man storytelling tornado.” -The Stage, Edinburgh.
In search of epiphany before stepping into full blown adulthood, our manchild Martin finds himself crossing the Sahara with compass pointing to Timbuktu. About as life changing an event as there is one would gather, and who better to tell the tale than perennial Fringe fave Martin Dockery? You betcha.
Owning the room, or the pulpit in this case, Dockery is a cartoonish flurry of arm waves, and facial contortions as he spins his tale, or rather, a series of smallish tales. Focusing on the journey rather than the destination, “Wanderlust” is a smattering of sharp acts, some harrowing, some hilarious, some revelatory, but all riding the common thread of fish out of water adventure.
Dockery could read a grocery list to resounding applause, but the fact that he delivers thought-provoking, knee-slapping, crowd cheering vignettes is just cherry on the cake. Hurrah!
