In February 2023, an apartment building in Ottawa was destroyed by fire. In a matter of hours, Claire Biddiscombe lost her home and most of her worldly possessions. In this interactive show, brought to life through a variety of storytelling techniques, she explores her loss and the shifting landscape of her grief, from shock to acceptance, harrowing to hopeful.

I was so moved by this play.
Moving between the past and the present — from Claire experiencing profound loss through grappling with her feelings, to today’s Claire, still holding many complicated feelings, but willing to share them with us so we can participate in supporting her — Claire cared for us and invited us to care for her. You could feel a palpable co-caring in the room, among audience members, tech and performer–something rare in live theatre, where the fourth wall is generally impermeable.
This made for a unique, intimate theatre experience.
A must-see.
