Apt613.ca Review: “Some of the finest storytelling I’ve seen at Fringe” “highly recommend”
https://apt613.ca/fringe-2025-reviewmultiple-neurosis/
It takes a great deal of courage to own up to what Karin Fekko shares about herself in this performance. We talk a lot about Fringe as a platform for bravery, and, well: here she is, world.
It is worth knowing that this is a very intimate and fairly slow-paced show, and it therefore won’t be for everyone. Fekko has the affect of a late-night host on CBC Radio 2, and that’s a huge plus or a huge minus depending upon who you are as a person.
This show was very thoughtful and interesting. It is not, however, particularly comedic and leans heavily towards dramatic self-study. I suspect it was originally planned to be more comedic, based on its advertisement, but that the focus of the show shifted during the writing process.
You know how during any show, your mind starts to wander just a bit? Something small, like what you’ll have for dinner. The two times that happened, I refocused feeling immense regret, scrambling for her next word. Fekko’s ability to make you feel like you knew her so deeply was masterful- the people she has been, and the person she is, tossing a story back and forth with an earnestness that brought me to tears. The dream sequences ALONE????! I see disability in a whole new light, and am feeling a little more complete since seeing this. MAJOR ASMR. ❤️🔥
Thank you Karin Fekko for sharing your story.
I smiled. I laughed. I teared up.
Beautifully written. A captivating and charming delivery. I highly recommend.
Karin is a fantastic storyteller. I had limited knowledge of MS going into this show and Karin’s explanation of her journey was eye opening. Karin tells the audience of various dreams and how these reflected her journey with MS at the time she dreamt them. Through comedic timing, physical storytelling, and raw emotions, she tells these stories and it leaves an impact unlike any I have experienced before with one-person storytelling. Overall, amazing experience!
An engaging, and personal reflection on living with and managing MS, shared directly by the individual orator. I appreciated what it may be like living with the encompassing ailment and some of the challenges that this could impose on one’s life plans. Kudos for opening up and sharing lived moments, dream and your journey.
