A raw, soulful journey through the music of Janis Joplin by way of a tribute concert honouring her voice and her story. Blending live musical performances with personal storytelling, Joplin: Rock on Out explores the meaning behind Janis’ songs, relational moments from her life, and the deep, messy ways her voice still resonates with us today.
At its heart, this show is an invitation to honour Janis and her music, find kinship in her experiences, and allow ourselves to feel genuine connection in a world that often tends to run from it. We’re all on this big, wild globe together. Why not love? Come take another little piece of my heart.
Allison did great in her first Fringe Show! She has an impressive voice singing some very challenging songs and decked out in late 60s fashions paying homage to Janice. I also learned a lot about a musical legend lost too soon. Fun to have shakers to take part and sing along (which is encouraged) but I like many white people struggle keeping the beat. This show is very honest learning why Allison relates to some of Janice’s struggles.
