The multi-award wining team behind Generic Male returns with a spectacular fusion of movement, illusion, and dynamic physicality that is both breathtaking and hilarious. HOME[sic] unpacks the fragile, shifting nature of home. Twins in the womb debate the existence of their mother. A couple adrift in a boat fall in and out of love. A man carries his home, the world and the audience on his back.
Both breathtaking and hilariously relatable; we are all at times a little homesick. PUSH Physical Theatre—the multi award-winning-team behind the Ottawa Fringe favorite, Off-Broadway sensation GENERIC MALE—create a visually stunning, acrobatic dreamscape where we long for home while aching to escape it.
Despite being down one third of their cast, they still put on an absolute banger of a show. They are masters in their craft of physical storytelling, anything they do is a must see in my opinion. Assuming the visa issues get sorted out, I will likely return to see the show as originally intended!
When is a fractured show an exquisite whole? When PUSH theatre weaves its magic. With a third of the troupe battling Visa issues (thanks Trump), PUSH revamped opening night as a formidable duo, reworking the performance like the true thespian troopers they are, turning a plot challenging blow into a physically emotive series of acts. An astonishing mastery of gymnastics and mime accentuate a touching story of lifetimes. Quite the life giving you lemons – lemonade achievement. And best of all, the play moves forward as intended with all three pieces now in place, the promise of added comedic touches, and a fresh, flushed out plot.

Beautifully done. Très touchant.
This is an absolute must-see!! The trio is amazing. So well done. We laughed, we cried, we were blown away by the movements, the dance, the stories they told. Glorious physical theatre.
Without any doubt one of the best dance theatre performances I’ve ever seen. Whimsical, humorous, technically spellbinding . A jewel in this year’s Fringe.
This show blew me away. It was the kind of show that feels a bit like magic, with wonderful and moving surprises along the way. It’s the kind of show that is not just something you watch, but something you experience and feel. Great job, PUSH!
Absolutely unmissable. This show moved me to tears not once, but twice. This is an absolute world class piece of theatre and I am urging folks to go see it – you will be moved. Their physicality is obviously mesmerizing, but it’s the way they use their bodies to tell stories of friendship, grief, loneliness, and togetherness that I found so impressive. The clown with the backpack and the elderly woman being visited by her family was my favourite part. The lighting for this show was absolutely phenomenal and deserves to be highlighted – the gobo and flashing lights during the storm, the door opening during the segment with the elderly woman, and the photo flash effects were completely unique, things I’ve never before seen done with lights in a play. Please, if you’re considering seeing this, go. You won’t regret it. I’m seeing it at least once more myself!
A beautiful anthology full of emotion, humour, and hireth. It is always a treat getting to watch talented people do what they do best and Darren, Heather and Ashley are masters of their art. Please go and see this show if you’ve ever had (or missed) a home.
