  1. What an entertaining show! The concept is super silly and it definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously. Plenty of laughs throughout

  2. A story that has it all: love, laughter, drinking, violence, and Plants.
A hilarious script brought to life with excellent performers. Would have tossed a bouquet, but …you know. I highly recommend the show for anyone interested!

(My only complainant of the night was the lack of Theater Etiquette with some of the audience members. One person behind me kept coughing into my hair instead of covering their mouth. Also the same person kept talking with their group. The Theater is not your living room, people.)

  3. A story that has it all: Love, Laughter, Drinking, Violence, and ,of course, Plants.
Hilarious script brought to life by wonderful performers. I would have brought a bouquet, but…you know. I highly recommend the show for anyone interested

(Only negative was the lack of etiquette from the people behind me talking and coughing in my hair. The Theatre is not your living room people).

  4. I will never look at plants the same way ever again!

This play is entertaining, left me in stitches and wanting a drink at the same time 😃.

    Truly an awesome time.

Lisa Meuser talented writer who wrote the play has been brought to life by a talented cast.

  5. I took in a performance of Drinking with Plants by Lisa Meuser at the Labo Theatre last night. The one-act play is a farcical romp and a featured attraction in the 2024 Ottawa Fringe Festival. The plot revolves around Sarah, an eccentric lonelyheart who likes her domestic wines a little too much, and her long-suffering houseplants. The plants are anthropomorphic: an amorous kalanchoe who fancies himself a ladies’ man, a mellow yellow cannabis, and a cold and prickly cactus who collectively interact with Sarah as she plots the assassination of her neighbour who holds a winning lottery ticket and has a singing voice that rivals Florence Foster Jenkins. The cast of characters is rounded out with a chorus comprised of a pair of news readers, an Uber Eats deliveryman whose name must be Narcissus, and a pair of intrepid police constables who, try as they might, never get to the bottom of the mystery.

The ensemble cast did a fine job of bringing the story to life, and they had fun with it. The audience revelled in the humour. Still, there is always room for perfection. There were occasions where the timing was off slightly, stopping the cast from fully exploiting the gags. Nevertheless, the play is a hoot and a welcome frivolity for the audience. Congratulations to Lisa, the cast and crew of Drinking with Plants, for a job well done.

  6. It’s like Little Shop meets Law and Order. It’s cute and funny and makes light hearted fun of the many emotions people might have experienced during the pandemic. The actors bring it all to life with their comedic timing and characterization of various plants. Definitely a fun time!

  7. Great show! Hilarious original show by talented creator Lisa Meuser and a merry band of fab Ottawa area actors. Only see it if you want to be entertained!
