When a sibling kicks the bucket, it’s oftentimes us left to carry the torch. If you’re unfortunate enough to be part of our society, we truly apologize. But we’re happy to have you. Take a seat, grab a cup of coffee, and leave the torch at the door.
Sincerely,
Dead Siblings Society

It has been 5 years since my brother has passed and this is the first time I have felt like someone understood exactly how I’ve been feeling. The dead siblings society was absolutely incredible, exceptionally well done and so so real. I am still crying, a type of cry I haven’t been able to have since his passing. Thank you so much for making this masterpiece and for creating a space for all of us who are going through this to not feel alone. I can’t express enough what this performance means to me. Thank you.
My husband and I saw Dead Siblings Society on June 14th and we were blown away! The performance was at times emotionally devastating and at other times playful. Nick and Murph were amazing. I highly recommend it!
Dead siblings society is a very well written and acted show, and I find it captures the idea of what it feels like when you lose a sibling. It is a mix of a comedy and a very serious show, and it perfectly transitions between those two subjects.
“Dead Siblings Society is a must-see masterclass that hits hard and helps you laugh through the tears.”
Dead Siblings Society isn’t just a standout at this year’s Fringe—it’s a show that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, it had the audience in stitches one moment and completely silent the next. There truly wasn’t a dry eye in the room—whether from grief, laughter, or that complicated space where the two meet.
What makes this piece unforgettable is how fully the performers, who also wrote the show, throw themselves into it. You can feel the personal truth humming beneath every word, every pause. They aren’t just telling a story—Murph Hickey and Nick Maillet are living it in front of us, and the result is electrifying.
The dialogue is sharp, the timing flawless, and the emotional depth staggering. One minute you’re laughing at something wildly inappropriate (and somehow perfect), the next you’re swallowing a lump in your throat. It’s theatre that doesn’t just entertain—it moves.
If you’re seeing one thing at Fringe this year, make it this. Dead Siblings Society is bold, brilliantly performed, and achingly human. Miss it, and you’re missing something truly special.
A beautiful, beautiful show. As a member of said society I must admit that it did feel aimed directly at me and those of us that have lost siblings, so my judgement maybe clouded by all of the crying I’m doing. However! I still believe that everyone should see this show!
First: Murph and Nick are incredible actors, their performances had me locked in the whole way through. Believable, moving, hilarious, and heartbreaking!
Second: The fight choreography! Exciting, funny, touching, and impeccably executed.
In short: an easy recommendation.
I laughed, I cried, I gasped in disbelief and awe! The very first show I watched at Ottawa Fringe and I’m so glad it was this one! Such a beautiful ode to the memories, unresolved feelings and the mourning process surrounding the loss of a beloved sibling. So fun and so full of heart, this show had excellent fight choreography and such a creative use of props and setting. Thank you!
