We selected SEXUAL CONTENT because there is brief mention of fish genitals. We selected ABRUPT LOUD NOISE because there is a sudden loud song that plays. We selected MENTAL HEALTH because there is very brief mention of suicide.
A transcript is available for this show.
Hi everyone,
I’m calling for an Emergency Board Meeting to discuss what to do about The Marvelous Mermaids of Merriment before things get any worse. Please see the proposed meeting dates and times (above to the right) and come prepared to vote on how to proceed.
Cindy, do you have a plan to get staff back to work? What’s happening in the meantime? Remember, we are here to guide you through this.
We need to avoid a PR disaster.
Sincerely,
Sylvia Ballard

Hi everyone,
Can you let me know (by EOD) what you think of the copy for the Pre-Engagement Presentation show description? It’s due back to the fringe festival today to be printed in their brochure. There is a 400-character limit:
“Come one, come all to this exclusive pre-engagement presentation of the global phenomenon, THE MARVELOUS MERMAIDS OF MERRIMENT™ — only at The Ottawa Fringe Festival! Featuring star mermatic artists from across the seven seas, there are just six chances to witness the magic before the show MUST open at The City Aquarium on Monday, June 24, 2024!”
Should we mention these accolades somewhere?:
★★★★★ – Journal de la Ville
★★★★★ – Dubai
🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀 – Court of the Sea
Mermatic Arts Grand Champions 1995
Thanks,
Cindy Alvin

Best. Board meeting. Ever.
Absolutely hilarious. We saw a late show and it was a great way to end the night on a high note.
The board vote was a unique element I wasn’t expecting – I can’t say how much it actually changed anything but it sure gave the feeling of agency the likes of which I haven’t seen in theatre outside of improv. Really, really well acted throughout, with lighting and set design to match.
Are we human or are we mermaids? I give it 5/5 fins
A fantastic show featuring three hilarious and skilled actors. Such a treat to watch – like a freezie on a hot summers day, it was just what I needed!!
What a fun show! I really enjoyed this one. Such a light hearted, fun time. Audience got to vote on what happened next at one point and I really enjoyed that. And so funny!
The actor portraying Jacob was a highlight for me. And the component of audience participation was really fun!
