Part stand-up, part storytelling, & part clown, it’s an intimate, unpredictable exploration of pain, zoology, & imagination. A gloriously deranged Ted-Talk by a wanna be scientist clown school graduate.
International comedian & Weird-Lil’-Gremlin, Amica Hunter GETS UNDER YOUR SKIN and CRUSHES YOUR FUNNY BONE in this hilarious, captivating, & sometimes-unsettling comedy about skeletal systems and the horrors of living in a body. ANATOMICA is an intimate, unpredictable exploration of zoological fascination, chronic pain, & the collective imagination. It is a show striving to answer one crucial universal question – What is the BEST type of skeleton?!?!?
With candidness and a comfortably casual tone, Amica reviews the three skeletal systems found in animals and discusses the pros and cons of each one. What would it be like to inhabit a body completely alien from our classic human form? A gloriously deranged Ted-Talk by a wanna be scientist who dropped out of college to attend clown school instead. Featuring a guided worm meditation, a slew of scientific animal facts, a butt-faced crab, and communication with the audience via a long plastic tube, ANATOMICA is an absurd shapeshifting show that will leave audiences with more questions than answers. Part stand-up, part storytelling, and part clown, ANATOMICA is an investigation of the inadequacies of different animal body models, and a celebration of the absurdity of being trapped in a body that is limited by pain, fatigue, and ultimately decay. But, you know, make it fun.

Amica’s stage presence and storytelling skills are top notch. We were entranced for the full 60-minutes. This is the weird and wacky that belongs at the Fringe for sure.
Very engaging – meaningful, weird and learned a lot. Strong costumes and stage present.
The kind of show the Fringe Festival was made for! Truly unique, engaging, bizarre, and entertaining! Highly recommend dragging your bones to this one.
Have you ever felt betrayed by your body? Maybe you’d like to try out life with a different version? Then this show is definitely for you. Amica creates a compelling mix of physical comedy and stand up. The show is definitely food for thought and will have you laughing throughout.
Loved this. One thing I noticed: Every one in the audience laughed at DIFFERENT STUFF. Like – somehow everyone’s funny bones (endoskeletons?) got tickled. Meaningful and also hilarious. My partner about died muffled-laughing in the part about The Rev (RIP). And now I can everyone I know about hydrostatic skeletons!!! Do go :)
Finally, someone brave enough to tackle the endoskeleton, exoskeleton and hydrostatic skeleton controversy. Decided by applause of course, because this is the Fringe. Huzzah!
Amica Hunter is an oddball, an oddball of the best kind. One who makes the audience laugh and think. In a tour de force solo show, Hunter molts costumes, morphs creatures, analyzes physical limitations, dishes out anti-inflammatories and Skittles. Yum.
This is more than just a biology class about skeletons, this is an immersive experience where the skeletons come to life. They have feelings, and our attention.
Funny, clever, weird, educational with just the right amount of creepy, Anatomica is a winner.
This is the stuff you come to Fringe for! Engaging storytelling, witty one-liners, bonkers costumes, hilarious crowd interactions, and of course a touch of personal vulnerability. If you like your performance artists on the weird side, then this is the show for you.
