What happens to Shakespeare’s heroes and villains after the curtain falls? Join Lady Macbeth, Portia, Hamlet, and King Hal as they reflect on their lives. Lexi Wolfe blends Shakespeare’s words, historical research, and her own dramatic spark to embody four distinct characters and explore their onward journeys.
What becomes of Shakespeare’s most unforgettable characters after the curtain falls? In this bold and emotionally charged one-woman show, award-winning performer Lexi Wolfe breathes new life into four iconic figures — Lady Macbeth, Portia, Hamlet, and King Hal — each stepping out from the shadows of the Bard to share their untold truths. Drawing on Shakespeare’s language, historical fact, and her own razor-sharp writing, Wolfe conjures a world beyond the plays — a confessional space where past glories, regrets, and secrets rise to the surface. From a guilt-ridden Lady Macbeth reliving her buried grief, to Hamlet reckoning with the consequences of his infamous indecision, After Shakespeare is a haunting, witty, and fiercely human meditation on legacy, identity, and what remains when the curtain falls.

Outstanding work. I was in awe of how smoothly Lexi was able to inhabit each of these characters into herself. The writing was an excellent balance between eerieness and humour. I was captivated from beginning to end. Well done.
Amazingly acted, expert playwriting and an emotional arc I didn’t expect. Clearly well researched and I liked when I caught a reference from the source material or other plays—though I doubt I got them all! I loved the gender play elements and how it built up to the last character. Also, on the poster, Lexi’s Henry V looks like Edward Norton so that alone should make you go (but really, see this show!)
UNFORGETTABLE! I am spellbound by this show’s daring and deeply poignant consideration of iconic characters. The language was evocative and rich with storytelling. I laughed a lot too- amazing moments of surprise and levity! Even if you know nothing bout the Bard- don’t miss this play. It’s an incredible deep dive into the human condition. This show felt like a dream where you traveled somewhere other worldly, and learned precious secrets from characters that were penned 400 years ago! I found revelations in this performance that made my heart soar.
Professionally acted Shakespeare fan fiction. Entertaining too! She really takes on each character and expands on their stories.
Great performance by a very strong actor, entertainting.
