Like the love child of Breaking Bad, A Simple Plan, & Fargo, this is a story of small town greed, deception, and an ever-expanding web of lies. Recent shows: TRUTH, Inescapable, The Stakeout, Forbidden City.

  1. Extremely well thought out show! And wonderful storytelling. Definitely a must see!

  2. Fringe thespian master Martin Dockery usually presents in two forms: a rapid fire solo travel monologue filled with hilarious observations, or a contemplative existential play within a play duo verbal spar. For his latest, Dockery steps away. Far, far away.

“1 Small Lie” opens amid a murder of lamps (a rarity: props) and the gorgeously haunting strains of “Harlem River”. A self- imposed pandemic retreat to Montauk hamlet seems innocent enough, but innocence is not on the table. A car accident, a baby deer, a reclusive neighbour, a mystery bag, and we are off. A dark tale of suspense, delivered with ridiculous verbal dexterity, crack musical timing, sprinkled with Dockery’s humourous observations for levity. And boy oh boy, what a story.

As usual, Dockery weaves an immersive, engrossing experience, before bringing everything together with a brilliant finish. Killer movie fodder this, easily the best thing you’ll see on any stage, any time soon.

  3. 1 small lie is true to its premise, of how one spur-of-the-moment lie can roll out of control into increasing consequences. Martin Dockery takes you on this gripping tale. Even with the best intentions, we are not immune to temptations.

Some incredibly tight writing. It will leave you on the edge of your seat.

  4. This is better than his other show, and that one is more than worth your while. I hope I might someday have a fraction of the creativity and showmanship Martin displays.

  5. Very weird and spoopy show! Lots of excitement and an emotional roller coaster. Funny and intense storytelling ( Martin is an awesome storyteller) very fun. Good show.
