Volunteer With Ottawa Fringe

It’s legit that 100% of ticket sales go to the performers, so we really do rely on volunteers, grants, and donors to keep the Fringe Festival growing.

Can’t say this enough: we couldn’t do it without you!

When you volunteer with the Fringe, you get:

  • an official Ottawa Fringe Festival volunteer t-shirt
  • a free show ticket for every shift worked
  • sponsored snacks throughout the days you are working (Smoke’s Poutinerie, Booster Juice, Bridgehead & David’s Tea are just a few of our past sponsors!)
  • the chance to be entered into daily weekend draws for prize packages
  • a thousand million thank yous and an invite to the Ottawa Fringe volunteer appreciation event after the Festival closes

Check out what some past volunteers have to say about their experience with the Fringe Festival:

I love volunteering for the Fringe Festival because there’s such a positive energy throughout: it’s impossible not to get excited too when you hear someone raving about a show or her friend is squealing about another. The atmosphere is just plain fun! Fellow Fringe volunteers are friendly and the event managers are super organized. Not to mention the awesome perk of seeing some of the shows for free! You definitely feel appreciated as a volunteer. This is my third year helping out at the Fringe Festival and I’m really looking forward to it!   – Alina K

I look forward to volunteering at the Ottawa Fringe every year because the caliber of shows is so consistently excellent. I see Ottawa theatre all year round but consistently, the best shows I see are every June at Fringe. As a volunteer, I often get to see the shows I love for free! Talk about win-win! Since Fringe has been such a huge part of my Ottawa Theatre experience, I love to be a part of the machine that brings these wonderful experiences to the public and makes these powerful artful moments possible for others too. As a volunteer on the grounds, I get the best word on the street buzz on shows to maximize my Fringe efficiency (which is always a factor with so many great shows to choose from) and on occasion, you can find yourself on friendly terms with Fringe celebrity performers, which is a great perk as a fan. If you like theatre, volunteering for Fringe is the best way to give a meaningful contribution to a community you care about while seeing shows you’ll never forget for free. You’ll love it.   – Kirsten G
