Fringe Lookahead: Thursday, June 20
After 361 days of waiting, it’s finally Fringe time again! Thanks for your patience everyone, and congratulations on surviving 51 and a half Fringe-less weeks. Now for the fun stuff.
WHAT’S HOT
Advance sales are on pace to surpass last year’s numbers, even before the festival opens. If there’s a show you’re dying to see, buying in advance is the way to go. What are the top selling shows so far? That’s an easy one: Die Zombie Die, My Second Smile, Emissions: A Climate Comedy, 6 Guitars, and Superhero Showdown.
THE COURTYARD
How are we going to follow up last night’s fantastic concert by the PepTides? How about with Toronto folk band (by way of the British Columbia wilds) Blue Sky Miners? They’ll take the stage at 10:00 pm tonight.
Stop by before and you’ll have a chance to see Fringe Preview Night, running from 8:00-10:00 pm. We’ve invited a bunch of Fringe artists from this year’s festival to come to the Courtyard to pitch their show, giving you a sneak peek of what’s coming up at the Fringe, before you spend your hard earned money on it.
If you want to see what’s coming up in the Courtyard for the rest of the week, head on over to our Courtyard page.
PAT’S PICK: What’s On
It’s the first day if Fringe, so besides nursing my hangover from the Kickoff Party, I haven’t had a chance to see or do much Fringe-related yet (and let me tell you, waking up to write this is post is not as glamourous as it appears). So my pick for the day are the BYOVs. All of them. Why not venture off the beaten path and see a show in one of the nine BYOVs featured in this year’s fest?
Our BYOVs stretch from the Bytown Museum in the west to T.A.N. CafĂ© in the east – the perfect distance to walk off that Courtyard beer you’ll be drinking between shows.
See you around the festival!
