Closing night awards
Seems impossible that, grooving to The PepTides, this Ottawa Fringe kicked off a distant 11 nights ago. And with closing night upon us, I couldn’t help but wish for 11 more. Having not had the opportunity to catch a handful of shows on my initial wishlist (and several more added), I’ll live with more regret than thought possible after last night’s final karaoke Saturday in the Fringe Courtyard.
In 2013, Ottawa’s largest theatre festival set new records: an opening weekend that drew nearly 5,000 in attendance to see more sold-out shows than ever before and, just yesterday, 2,100 in attendance made for the highest single-day draw in Festival history.
Tonight we look back on a landmark year with Metro Best of Fest performances by the Festival’s top-selling shows. Afterwards, join artists, volunteers and patrons in the Fringe Courtyard to celebrate with a shandy, a taco and an awards ceremony to boot including recognition for:
- Best overall
- Outstanding ensemble
- Outstanding concept
- Outstanding original work
- Outstanding design element
- Outstanding duo
- Outstanding soloperformance
- Outstanding drama
- Outstanding comedy
This is the internet and we can do what we want… so let’s play the jury for a minute by sharing picks in the comments section below.
