Despite the guidance of William Dorsey Swann (the first drag queen in America), Evergreen accepts a deal from a strange man to save her poetry café. With a blend of dance theatre and psychological horror, this play pits the physical manifestation of the patriarchy against the heroes of history to explore a deal that every woman is offered.
The Death of a Swan premiered at Ottawa’s 2025 Youth Infringement Festival. It won Audience Choice Award (Week 2); Award of Distinction for bringing strong performances to a highly ambitious vision; and Jury’s Choice: Special Mention for the role of William Dorsey Swann.
