Pre-Fringe Checklist
How many sleeps until Fringe?
If you knew the answer was 22 – without having to do the math – you are in need of some serious pre-Fringe activities (and I’m not judging, I’m right there with you).
Lucky for you (and me), we’ve created a handy checklist which has everything you need to do before Fringe to prepare for June 14-24.
- Get your Frequent Fringer Passes and Pins
This one’s a no-brianer. You save money by buying a Frequent Fringer Pass – but hurry, there are a limited number available! And you can’t get into the Fringe without the one-time $3 Pin purchase, which helps support the festival, since 100% of ticket sale revenue goes directly into the hands of the artists. Pins and passes are available RIGHT NOW at http://ottawafringe.myshopify.com/Or, if you’re feeling lucky, you can enter to win TWO 10-Show passes to the festival, courtesy of A Little Bit of Momsense. Simply head over to the contest page on their website and answer the question: what do you love about live theatre? The contest closes on May 27.
- Get your 2012 Fringe Program
Where can you pick up a program? As of June 1 they’ll be available at any Bridgeheadacross the city, as well as public libraries, Arts Court, and other Fringe venues. But if you’d like to be among the first to get your program, why not come to our 2012 Festival Launch on Thursday, May 31 from 6:00-8:00 at Lunenburg Pub & Bar, located at 14 Waller Street and sponsored by the Downtown Rideau BIA
- Attend our Fringe Fundraiser
Besides being program day, June 1 is also AN EVENING WITH SCOTT THOMPSON (a Fundraiser for Ottawa Fringe). A brand new show from Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall), presented as a one-night-only fundraiser performance for the Ottawa Fringe Festival.Door opens at 7:30pm. Curtain at 8pm. Catered reception with cash bar to follow performance.
Arts Court Theatre – 2 Daly Avenue
Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door, available by calling 613-564-7240 - Start watching Fringe Previews
Have you seen our YouTube channel? Over the next few days we’ll be filling it up with previews and trailers for the 2012 festival. Head on over to see what’s up already, and keep checking back as more will be added in the 22 days leading up to Fringe. If you don’t like browsing YouTube (the threat of being sucked into watching hours of cute kitten videos is very real), we’ll be posting 10 Days of Fringe Previewshere on the blog starting May 31.But if you can’t wait even that long, I’ve got a special preview for you right now! Enjoy a look at Theatre Sasa’s The Open Couple!
