The Women Come and Go…

Take a deep breath. Kristina Watt and Mary Ellis team up to present snapshots of two dozen-plus women in excerpts from Shakespeare, Shaw, Brecht, Tennessee Williams and many, many more. Loosely grouped into themes like sex (Ellis’ deadpan enactment of Barbara Seaman’s The Liberated Orgasm is a hoot), marriage (Watt nicely captures Nora’s leave-taking, from The Dollhouse) and aging, the pieces offer a prismatic view of memorable women and a cumulative portrait of indomitability. Alas, there’s too much in too short a time, so neither audience nor actors have a chance to fully engage in the characters and their stories. At Arts Court Theatre until June 27.
