Review: Dale Beaner and the Turtle Boy

OTTAWA — If you’ve ever endured the inanity of sports announcers’ small talk, slaved in a pizza joint, fretted about your kid getting brain cancer from cellphones, or been either an unwilling teenage movie star or an 18-year-old with a turtle’s shell surgically implanted on your back, you’ll relate to this absurdly funny and breakneck-paced glance at what we’ve become circa the early 21st century.
And even if you’ve done or been none of the above, you’ll still get the joke.
A two-hander jam-packed with smart vignettes, most of them fully realized, the show glories in its own boisterous opinions about just how self-engaged, short-sighted and even a little sad we all can be.
At SAW Gallery until June 26.
