Only a few months ago (September 21, 2018) the Ottawa area was hit by a series of vicious tornadoes that stunned the community. In Tornado Troubles, as a survivor, the actor demonstrates how he has chosen to deal with the trauma, and to help his family as well as their neighbours cope. Undoubtedly the trauma is ongoing. Humour is key for the survivors. And music as well. During the Monday evening performance, the actor mentioned how he was reluctant to use one of the jokes because of the negative feedback he had received. I personally thought the joke not only was funny, but also had a ring of truth to it. I was dismayed to realize that audiences were expecting the humour to entertain them. It is as if they missed the point that the humour was to help the audience understand how the victims are dealing with the trauma they are living through.
